This groom's guide by newlywed television and film writer Scott might fit more easily into the category of wedding humor than wedding planning. Scott's gift for hyperbole is apparent in every chapter as he contrasts the idealized version of the big day with his own hilarious take on reality. Typical is his advice on dealing with the caterer: -Item -crab cakes. Quantity caterer recommends: one per person. Quantity you will actually need: twenty-three per person. - Yet for all his wise-cracking sarcasm, there are nuggets of wisdom to be mined from the book. With the stress of overspending budgets; compiling guest lists; selecting attendants; choosing locations; and dealing with parents, gift registries, invitations, attire, and rings, what engaged couple wouldn't welcome a little comic relief? Though this is hardly an essential purchase, libraries with large wedding planning collections will relish this one-of-a-kind groom's survival guide for its entertainment value." -Deborah Ebster, Univ. of Central Florida Libs., Orlando"
