In the Wild Aces contemporary series opener, Cleeton energizes a stock romantic premise with appealing lead characters who have relatable problems and share a life-changing event. During a weekend visit to Las Vegas, clothing boutique owner Jordan Callahan meets U.S. Air Force fighter pilot Noah Miller in a bar. After some dirty dancing and raw, hungry lovemaking, Jordan and Noah are head over heels for each other and envisioning a future together. But their long-distance relationship between Florida and Oklahoma becomes even more of a struggle when Noah receives a two-year posting to Korea. The characters are profoundly changed after a devastating accident, and Cleeton’s prose fittingly addresses the “fragility of life.” This is a sentimental book about two people in love, the military family they are part of, and the danger and difficulty of military life.
