English's third book in her Shakespeare series focuses on an intriguing widow, Countess Angelique. After her previous paramour ended things with her to return to his wife in How to Tame a Willful Wife (2012), Angelique tries to hold her head high with the ton and work on her lucrative shipping business. After selling his naval commission, Captain James Montgomery sees nothing worthwhile about land living until he spots Angelique. He pursues her regardless of their difference in social status, and they do find passion and common ground. Angelique draws a powerful enemy while trying to help her friend Arabella (from Love on a Midsummer Night, 2013). She also inherits a ward, a teenage girl, while discovering that James is the type of partner who can be helpful to even the most independent of women. By paralleling some plotlines from her previous tales, English enables readers to see some dangerous and exciting events from two different perspectives. Grace Burrowes and Amanda Quick fans will enjoy the strong ladies in the latest fun read from the ascending English.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2014, American Library Association.)
