Three words: cat caf wedding. The cat caf in question belongs to Bonnie James, who started her small-town, 24-cat operation after being humiliated at a prior job. The wedding is being planned by Taryn Ritter, who specializes in one-of-a-kind ceremonies. Despite the opportunity for money and publicity, Bonnie declines the wedding booking, but Taryn is stubborn and sets out to melt her resistance. Along the way, she develops feelings for Bonnie--and for some of the caf's most difficult cats. This is a cozy romance set in the kind of small town where a cat caf owner who is absolutely disinterested in making money can nevertheless own a house, rent a different house, and start construction on an expansion simultaneously. Baking is done during business hours, a cat is regularly allowed in the caf kitchen, and new cats can be dropped off without isolation or vet checks. VERDICT This low-heat contemporary romance from Walsh (Liberty Bay) could be a good fit for readers whose sapphic daydreams include cats, cafs, and low-stress small businesses.--Katelyn Browne
